Our History
Korean School of Greater Hartford was founded in 1985 as Woori Hankul School. Over the years, the school grew, and in 2007 the Board of Directors registered it as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the new name, the Korean Language and Cultural Education Institute (KLCEI). In 2025, in celebration of our 40th anniversary and to better connect with our community, we embraced a new name: Korean School of Greater Hartford. Today, our school proudly serves students from across Connecticut and Massachusetts, growing together with the greater Hartford community.
하트포드 한국어학교는 1985년 우리 한글 학교라는 이름으로 개교 되었습니다. 이후 학교는 꾸준히 성장하여 2007년에는 Korean Language and Cultural Education Institute (KLCEI) 라는 이름으로 비영리 단체로 연방정부에 등록되었습니다. 2025년, 개교 40주년을 맞아 지역 사회와 더 가까이 소통하기 위해 ‘하트포드 한국어학교’라는 새로운 이름을 사용하게 되었습니다. 우리

Vision
To be the premier institute and resource center for Korean language, history, culture, and heritage — advancing understanding and connection within our community and beyond.
Mission
We are guided by two core goals:
- Empower students with a deep understanding of Korea — its language, culture, and heritage — so they can carry these traditions forward, drive growth in their communities and careers, and become champions of acceptance and diversity worldwide.
- Educate the broader public about Korea’s rich language and heritage, fostering openness and appreciation for cultures beyond their own.
