Our History
The Korean School of Greater Hartford is a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching the Korean language and sharing Korea’s rich history and culture. The school opened its doors at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut on September 7, 1985 with a mission to educate and introduce students to the Korean language and its culture. In 2007, as the school increased in size, the Board of Directors decided to incorporate and register the school as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Legally, we are incorporated as Korean Language and Cultural Education Institute, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We publicly operate as the Korean School of Greater Hartford to better reflect our mission in the community.
하트포드 한국학교는 1985년 9월 7일에 한국어와 한국 문화 교육을 위해 트리니티 컬리지에서 수업을 시작했습니다. 학교가 성장함에 따라 2007년에 비영리 법인으로 등록된 후, 지속적으로 발전해 오고 있습니다.
Our Mission
The Korean School of Greater Hartford’s mission is to be a premier Korean language and cultural institute and resource center for the language, history, culture and heritage of Korea and its people.
Our school has two overarching goals.
- To introduce and prepare students in understanding Korea, its language and heritages, so that students have the ability to continue the Korean language and heritages and encourage students to become engines of growth in their communities and the business world.
Secondly, we seek to educate the public about Korea’s language and heritage.
Korean School of Greater Hartford’s hope is to have the students promote acceptance and diversity to the global population and become catalysts of change in the acceptance of others.
하트포드 한국학교 에는 두가지 목표가 있습니다.
첫째, 학생들이 한국을 이해한다. 학생들이 한국어와 문화 유산을 계속 지닐 수 있는 능력을 유지할 뿐 아니라, 이를 바탕으로 지역 사회와 비즈니스계의 원동력으로 성장한다. 학생들이 세계적인 문화와 인종의 다양성을 추구하고 포용할 수 있다.
둘째, 우리학교의 교육을 통하여 다른 문화의 배경을 갖고 있는 대중이 한국의 언어와 문화 유산을 이해한다. 이로 인하여 그들이 한국문화를 인정하고 수용할 수 있다.
