Letter from Peter Lymm, President
Dear Parents and Students:

This summer we had dinner with the Headmistress, a few of our wonderful teachers, board members and their families. I told the teachers I felt like it was Thanksgiving. I told them that I was so thankful that we have such a wonderful group shaping our school to be better and better for your students and for our community! Our teachers and board have worked tirelessly throughout the summer to start to bring our school to new levels of performance and I thank them wholeheartedly for their time and dedication. We want to deliver results beyond the expectations of our parents, students and teachers and feel that we are on the road to making great strides to achieve this goal.

To that end, the teachers have been working very hard and have upgraded the curriculum and programs for our students. Our teachers have recognized that age is not the only factor to determine the learning ability of a child, but that experiences also factors into the equation. Therefore, as Headmistress Joo explains in her letter, instead of grade level classes, we will focus more on capability levels and group students with similar competencies together by level with supplemental hands on programs that will enforce the teaching. We feel as well that this new approach will help our children feel more comfortable, excel quicker and experience a more robust program.

In addition, our board has been cooking up new things as well! Come see our new website! You will see a brand new look and more functionality! We have a revamped calendar of events page, a section to notify parents of inclement weather and class cancellations and a discussion board. Also, we are now working closely with the teachers to develop more functionality for them as well as for the students. So stay tuned! We’ve also set long range goals on ways to shape the direction of our future. For example, we are expanding teacher training, our community outreach objectives and creating more Korean community events! Also, we have been working hard to secure additional funding to help run the school by organizing our spring annual golf tournament as well as looking at new avenues for donations. Along that line, I am very excited about the diligent work that has been ongoing to secure our 501c3 tax exemption status. Kelly Lymm has sent the federal non-profit request (501c3 filing) to the IRS this summer and is awaiting a final response.

As you can see, we’ve had a very busy summer and are now prepared to begin a new school year. We hope that you will join us in beginning a new, fun and exciting year at KLCEI. As a final note, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Yohan and Tina Park for their dedication and support to this school. As many of you may know, both Yohan and Tina moved to Houston, TX; but we are very fortunate that, they will continue to be a part of this school as active board members.

In closing, your comments and insights are very important to us in making KLCEI the best language and cultural school for you and or your children. Again, please feel free to e-mail me, anyone of our board members, or the administration with questions, comments or concerns.

Best Regards,

Peter J. Lymm
President of the Board
