Letter from the Headmistress
Dear KLCEI parents,
A warm welcome to all our new and returning families. I hope you are all having a great summer! For those returning families, I would just like to thank you again for your tireless support and cooperation you have given our school. Your support and feedback have continued to help shape our school.
“What would be the most effective ways to teach students?” This was the question that our teachers have been diligently working on this summer. From countless meetings, and teacher training programs, they have come up with a great set of new programs for our children that will be more engaging and rewarding.
We will be reorganizing our classes beginning this fall semester. We will have 6 classes in total. We will have a preschool, kindergarten, SAT II Korean Prep class, and a General/Adult class that will follow a similar format to what was previously established. However, where you will see the most change is with our elementary, and middle school classes. We have combined the elementary and middle school classes into 4 levels based on verbal and written abilities. These four levels will be segregated from beginner to advanced. Four teachers will work as a group to teach these levels. As part of the daily class program we have included a special activities segment where students can choose either traditional Korean music and masked dance, or Korean drama. Both segments will be taught according to student’s age and skill levels.
Please mark your calendars! Fall 2009 semester begins on September 12 at 9 AM! Please refer to the attached school calendar and fill out and send us the new registration form. Also note that there may be changes to the school schedule due to unforeseen circumstances, but we will notify you as soon as possible.
There will be a brief opening ceremony at the auditorium, followed by a presentation by our teacher Sarah Kim. She will speak on the topic of “Korean: how to teach and evaluate?” I urge everyone to attend this for I believe this will be an opportunity to learn about the importance of Korean education and its impact on your children’s life.
On a final note, I would also like to introduce our new teacher, Laura Lee, who will be teaching our adult class. Please join me in welcoming her to our school. I am confident that her talent and enthusiasm will add to the quality of our education!
I am excited to start the 2009-2010 school year knowing that our teachers have been putting so much effort in researching and creatively redesigning curriculums! With our focus on new and redesigned developmentally appropriate and interesting teaching format and special activities, I look forward to seeing our students learn and grow into a valuable member of our society.
Sincerely,
Cindy Joo
